Located in Franklin, southwest of Montreal, the story of the now abandoned Dorea Institute is told by bits and pieces. Not that its story is marked by horrors (…or maybe it is?), but it is rather difficult to find accurate information on the...
It was supposed to be a quiet family trip. Destination: the province of Prince Edward Island and the Madeleine islands, a small archipelago consisting of a half-dozen of islands interconnected by bridges and roads. For readers outside of Canada, these islands are located in the Gulf of St Lawrence, at the entrance of North America by the Atlantic ocean.
Anyway, we decided to spend few days in the province of Prince Edward Island before taking the ferry to the Madeleine islands. And it is here, on this island with around hundred thousand people, fans of Lucy Maud Montgomery and her heroine ... Anne of Green Gables that I found the Toy'r'us of rurex ... Nay: it was the Eldorado, the abandoned houses's Klondike or even better: the earthly paradise of old fisherman's houses abandoned in favor of bungalows lost in a grassy desert without trees.

Then you will understand that I was rather limited in time. Regardless, I will return for sure! If Detroit is the paradise of urbex, I dare say the Maritimes which are closest to the rurex Eden...
Anyway, here are some shots I've made on the island…

This domain’s history is rooted in the nineteenth century, back when industrialists in Canada are mostly English or Scottish men. At that time, French-Canadian people, who form the majority of the population, do not participate in the economic...
Conceived in the mid-30s, the Catalina is a seaplane and a patrol bomber, created by the U.S. company Consolidated. More than 4,000 copies were built in United States, but also in Canada and in USSR. In Canada, they were built by Canadian Vickers...
